Tornado Alley!

Image
Hey everyone!  So funny thing happened this week. We had a bunch of rain and flooding everywhere, but not by our apartment. Also, we had a tornado touch down about 400 yards from our apartment.... we are fine!! We were on our way to an appointment when we heard the tornado sirens go off. So, we speedily went back to our apartment and waited in the bathroom. The lights flickered but we didn't lose power. Later that day, we heard immense "thunder" aka tornado. We had our fans going in our apartment so we didn't realize that it was a tornado. We found out at church the next day that it was in fact a tornado and that it hit the apartments about a half mile away from us. 2 apartment complexes in town lost their roofs. However, we were blessed because the tornado went the opposite direction of us after it touched down. All in all, we have a severe weather warning for  this Saturday  so that will be fun:) We are really watched over as missionaries. The appointment that w...

Kentucky!

Hey Friends and Family,  This week has been crazy busy, but full of so much joy! I arrived in Tennessee last Wednesday and was welcomed by President Stone and his wife. I had some training and sleep and was sent off to Kentucky! I am currently in Hopkinsville Kentucky! My companion is Sister Henley and she's amazing! She's from UT too!!  As for teaching this week, we went out finding all week since our area just had 3 baptisms. We found a man named James who is super ready to be taught. He's had a rough life. We found him and he doesn't have a phone. We taught him the Restoration on his porch until he had to leave.  He said he really wants us to come back next week  on Thursday  evening. So, I'm super excited to teach him! We asked him why he was willing to talk to us, he said, "You girls just seamed to beam with happiness, I had to find out why you were so happy?" (He has a super thick accent and at first I didn't know if he was speaking Eng...

LAST WEEK MTC!!!!

Image
Hey family and friends!!! This week has been amazing! It's been bitter sweet. I say that because I've learned so much and become great friends with my district. It will be sad to say goodbye to the Las Vegas West missionaries  on Wednesday  when I leave for Nashville!!!! I love them and will miss them. However, they will be great in Vegas!  Some exciting news is that I had the opportunity to play a violin twice this week! I ended up auditioning with it to play for the people at the MTC. I found out that I will be able to play prelude music with my violin for a general authority  on Tuesday ! I'll play for 15 minutes and then my companion and I will be able to meet whoever the general authority is!!!!  I also am sad to say goodbye to my investigators Jasmine and Andrew! I love them and hope that the next missionaries will be able to love them as much as I do! They are great!!! However, I'm super stoked to love the people of Tennessee in just 4 days...

MTC Week 2!

Hey family and friends,  This week has been really awesome!!! We (Sister Huber and I) started teaching TRC's, or investigators. It was awesome! Right now I'm teaching Andrew Yujiro Kakishta and he's progressing so much! He's reading the Book of Mormon every day but is still having a hard time praying. Although, he said he would pray before our next visit!!!! I'm super excited because we get to teach him all of this week too!!! Also, funny thing happened, I twisted my ankle playing basketball. I guess I forgot how to walk:) But, all is well, and I'm perfectly healed now:) So, don't worry mom!!! I saw a lovely video labeled the Characters of Christ this week in class and it was absolutely wonderful! I watched it on repeat at least 4 times! I encourage you all to watch it this week! Its on  lds.org ! Another thing that is super awesome that I loved this week was our devotional. We had Brent Nielson from the Quorum of the 70 speak to us. He really sai...
