Hearing and Heeding the Spirit

Image
Hi Family and Friends!  This week has been another stellar week full of trials and answers to prayers. But, than again that's every week. We are still doing a lot of finding and I love it! I trust that Heavenly Father will help Sister Fox and I find those people that He has prepared. It might take a little bit of time, but I know it will happen. I know that I must be doing everything I can to be ready and a better vessel for the spirit so when those people come unto us we will be effective teachers for the spirit to testify to them. I love this gospel and love to learn continually and grow continually in it. For interesting things that happened this week: We had a Sheriff pound on our door at seven in the morning looking for someone else. When we opened the door and asked how we could help him he looked confused and said he had the wrong house. I don't know what it is about cops and us. It's really funny. They just are drawn to the gospel I think. I also had the opp...

Goats, Pulled Over, and a Challenge

Image
Hi Family and Friends!    This week was amazing! I had the opportunity to hold a goat, got pulled over, saw my trainer again and sing to some returning members. We met this wonderful lady that had 22 chickens and a baby goat. We are teaching her boyfriend. She let us hold her goat!  As for the pulled over part. Don't worry! Sister Fox and I were pulled over for no reason. Literally, the officer pulled us over and we asked why we were being pulled over. He didn't even have an answer. (We are obedient missionaries here in the Tennessee Nashville Mission) :) So, he said he was sorry and let us go on our way. We also had exchanges this week. Exchanges are when you switch companions for a day to learn and grow from them. I had the cool opportunity to be with my old trainer, Sister Henley! It was great to be with her for a day and learn from her. I also had the wonderful opportunity to sing some hymns and primary songs for an older woman in the ward who hasn't been able to a...

Small and Simple

Image
Hi Family and Friends!     This week was wonderful! I'm still getting used to this area but it's coming. It is a really great area and ward. The members here are so willing to help us missionaries out. They're really willing to help anyone out.     This week we also had zone conference. It was truly amazing! I had ALL my prayers answered! I wanted to share a few take aways from the conference. We talked a lot about how we don't always see the results from our actions. We do find people to teach that end up getting baptized but we also talk to A LOT of people that we won't see them enter into the waters of baptism. However, we might never see the way we affected them.  They compared this to dropping a rock in water. We may be the rock that is dropped into the water. As the rock, we don't see the ripples that come after us. However, they may go extensively farther than we could have imagined, maybe never ending. It was super cool to realize that the sma...

Joyous Growth

Image
Hi Family and Friends! This week has been wonderful! Fayetteville or Fedvull (That's how they say it here in the South) is great! It's definately an adjustment from Hopkinsville Kentucky but it's a good adjustment. The ward here is very involved with missionary work which is great! We're doing a lot of finding right now as the ward had 5 people baptized last month! They were all referred by members!  I was looking back this week and reflecting on everything that has happened. It was really stressful coming here. I have said many prayers. And, like I mentioned before, we're doing a lot of finding/tracting. I wanted to share a quick experience from that. Sister Fox and I fasted to be able to find those people that are ready to here from us. I also prayed to truly have a change of heart and find joy in finding those people. Well, Sister Fox and I went out and I was actually excited to knock on peoples doors! Don't get me wrong, I love people. Ever since pra...

Last Week in Hoptown

Image
Hey Family and Friends! So transfers came and I'm going to Fayetteville Tennessee!! I'm excited to go but also a little sad to leave my first area. Well Hoptown, it's been a good 6 months!  I've been thinking about what to say to y'all this week. I decided to share an insight I've learned this past week. HOPE! I was reading a talk from the October 1999 General Conference by James E. Faust. The title is Hope, an Anchor to the Soul. I highly recommend y'all read it. I was a little down the past few weeks so I decided to study hope. "Hope is trust in God’s promises, faith that if we act now, the desired blessings will be fulfilled in the future". This quote has stuck with me this past week. I like how it talks about how hope requires faith but also how we need to "act now" on that faith. As a missionary, I have to act on promptings that instant and TRUST that it's the right thing without knowing ahead. This is how hope and fa...
