A Closing of a Chapter..

Hey Y'all!!!
This will be my final letter sent out as a full-time missionary... That being said, I want to just talk a little bit about what I've learned out here in the Tennessee Nashville Mission.

1. God loves me and knows me personally.  I've always been taught that but it really has stuck with me on my mission. He answers every prayer. One experience was that I was having a really hard time on my mission last July. I  was considering going home and didn't know what to do. I was praying and didn't feel like my prayers were being answered. Well, I decided to get a priesthood blessing. While we were waiting for the elders at the church, my companion started playing, "Savior, Redeemer of My Soul" which happens to be my favorite song. I felt peace as she played and knew that everything would be alright. She didn't know that song was my favorite, nor that music is a way I feel the Spirit the strongest. But, my Heavenly Father knew. He answered my prayer through my companion and in a way that I could realize.

2. Jesus Christ is my Savior. It is through Him that I can become better.
I know that it is only through Jesus Christ that we can make it back. But, I've also seen that it's through Him that we can have a desire to be better. I haven't always been as obedient as I could've been on my mission. But, I've worked and worked and worked at becoming not only a more diligent and obedient missionary, but a disciple of Jesus Christ. I know that He can help us no matter where we are at now. He requires a willing heart and a contrite spirit.

3. Joseph Smith is and was the prophet of the Restoration.
I found this out by praying and reading the scriptures with real intent as Moroni 10:4-5 states. I know that Joseph Smith was an instrument in God's hands to bring the priesthood back to the earth today so we can be with our families forever. I know the priesthood power is real and powerful. I know that through the power of God, Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon into english for us to have today! He couldn't of done it himself nor did he.

4. The Book of Mormon is the word of God and contains the fullness of Christ's gospel.
I know this to be true. I know because I pray everyday and read the Book of Mormon looking to find peace and truth.  I can feel the Spirit testify of it's truthfulness every time I open it. I know that we can talk to God through prayer, and He talks to me through the scriptures. Reading the Book of Mormon softens hearts and changes lives. I have seen people out here in TN change from praying and reading the Book of Mormon. I had one convert say that the thing that helped her overcome her concerns was reading the Book of Mormon. It is true! If you have a question, read the Book of Mormon!

5. We have a living prophet today to lead and guide us.
I know that President Nelson is a prophet today. I mean, I can wear slacks as a sister missionary!!! We're so blessed that President Nelson can receive revelation for what we need to do to be in good standings with God. I've been blessed by following his counsel. I encourage y'all to study his talks and keep the invitations he extends. He is the mouthpiece for the Lord.

There are many things I'd love to share but not enough time to do so. I have been placed in many situations to grow out here in Tennessee. But, I have loved the growth and loved seeing others grow and change through living the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have relied on my Heavenly Father to help me overcome obstacles. I have been able to learn how the Spirit speaks to me and have been blessed for following each prompting. I have loved the people! They are incredible! So full of faith, and hospitality! They truly do have a faith in Jesus Christ! I've had my heart blessed so many times I can't even count. These people have touched my heart and my life! I have been blessed to serve in the Tennessee Nashville Mission.

Love,
Sister Madeline Stone
