Line Upon Line

Hey Family and Friends! 

This week I wanted to share an insight. 

I was reading in a talk this week and I came across a quote which read, " The Holy Ghost doesn’t tell us to improve everything at once. If He did, we would become discouraged and give up. The Spirit works with us at our own speed, one step at a time, or as the Lord has taught, “line upon line, precept upon precept, … and blessed are those who hearken unto my precepts, … for unto him that receiveth I will give more.” When we as missionairies teach people, we ask them to keep small commitments. When they do this, we increase to bigger commitments. This way they are able to change slowly and receive many blessings as they do so. The Spirit works the same way. He doesn't tell us to change everything all at once. But, "line upon line." I know that Heavenly Father loves each of us individually. He knows us. He will help us. We are able to have the Gift of the Holy Ghost to help us know what to do and what to say and know where to start to become better.  

This week we've had so many tender mercies. It's been really hot! But, it's been really cool to see the people we're teaching keep small commitments. We are able to see them change to become more like the Savior. I know that the Spirit is there to help us. We are not alone in this journey of becoming. So, don't lose hope. My challenge to y'all is to pray and ask Heavenly Father where you should start to change. Listen to the Spirit. He will lead you. I know this is true. I see it everyday! This gospel does bring true joy.
