Joyful Repentance
Howdy y'all!!!
This week has been so good! We were able to meet our lovely new mission president and his wife, the Weavers! They are so fabulous! You could just feel the love they had for us eminate through the room.
We also had the opportunity to celebrate the 4th! Since we live with members, we were able to stand in their (our) backyard and watch some beautiful fireworks! Don't worry y'all, I didn't touch anything that could potentially catch on fire! ;)
Spiritual Reminder:
This week I had a day that I just didn't really have a lot of joy in. I felt off all day and it wasn't until we were at a members house sharing a message that it finally clicked. Sister Thueson shared a quote that said, "Love is the very essence of the gospel and Jesus Christ is our exampler. -President Thomas S. Monson. That statement is so powerful and true. I also shared a quote which stated that, "Joy has nothing to do with the circumstances of our lives, but rather the focus of our lives." I can't remember who said that one. But, after we shared these things I had a spiritual reminder that joy comes through living the gospel, and loving all of God's children enough to share Jesus Christ's gospel with them. Then, acting on that love. In that moment, I realized that I hadn't had a lot of joy that day because I hadn't been focusing on the right things. I hadn't expressed my love of my Savior through my actions that day. Thankfully, we have the great gift of Jesus Christ's Atonement. I am so grateful that I can repent and become better each and every day because of Jesus Christ.
Elder Renlund stated, " God cares a lot more about who we are and who we are becoming than about who we once were. He cares that we keep on trying." I know that this is true. We are able to become so much more than we are now as we use the Atonement of Jesus Christ and live His gospel! I know that God doesn't expect perfection. All he asks is that we give Him our full offering. He takes that small offering and helps us become something so much more. I know this is true as I've seen it in my life. Some people say, wow a mission really changes people. Well, spoiler alert. It's not the mission that changes us. :) We are able to change through Jesus Christ and His Atonement. We are able to become so much more as we live His gospel, keep the commandments, and do the small and simple things consistently. We are all able to change. We are all able to become.
I encourage y'all to take a personal spiritual inventory. See where you could do better. Maybe it's reading your scriptures daily, being invested in Come, Follow Me, saying sincere prayers, sharing the gospel, living what you believe, etc. It can be anything. Pick something and start today to "do better and be better" Remember, it's not about perfection, it's about the offering. You can become anyone and anything through the power of Jesus Christ and His gospel. We are all able to "keep on trying". I know that as you do this, you will be able to feel the power of the Atonement in your everyday lives and become who He has in store for you.
I sure love y'all! Have a fabulous week!
Love,
