Phone calls from Heaven?
Good afternoon Family and Friends!!!
This week was quite the week! Here's a few highlights from the week!
This first one should explain the title.
Sister DeGraw and I had this person that had been formerly taught by missionaries in mind that we wanted to go see. We had pushed him off for a day or so and were finally able to plan a time to see him. So, we drove over to what we thought was his house and parked. We said a prayer and still weren't sure that house was his. But, we felt good about it and walked up and knocked. A man answered and we asked if it was the man we were looking for. He said it was. We started talking to him and about 5 minutes in, he apologized for missing our appointment the day before. Sister DeGraw and I looked at each other confused (as we had never talked or met this man before) We thought he thought we were someone else. But, we decided to play it off like we knew what he was talking about. Then, later in the conversation he brought it up again. Then we asked him. He said we had called him on Tuesday to set up the appointment. (We were so confused.) So, we asked the man if he still had our number. He then pulled up his phone history and showed us Tuesday night. I looked and saw OUR number had called him that night. Sister DeGraw and I were amazed and REALLY confused. We continued talking to him and eventually left. When we got in the car we pulled up our phone history. Now here's the kicker. We didn't even have his number in our phone. Yet, when we went to our history there was a minute and twenty second conversation Tuesday night with his number. We had no explanation but that Heavenly Father called this guy and set up an appointment for us. We found out we were in the same place as the man the previous night and that he usually isn't home but we had caught him when he was. There were too many coincidences for it to be a coincidence. Heavenly Father is sure good.
As for a funny story. Haha. So, my companion and I saw this BBQ food truck. We decided it was a must to try for our lunch. So, we mosied on over and made our order. I decided before that I was going to order like a true southern person with the yes ma'am and yes sir and all. So, when my moment to shine came to talk to the big gentlemen what did I say? Thank you ma'am! It was too late to recover. I held back the laugh and tried to rescue it with a thank you sir. But, it was too late. My companion was pretty much dying on the ground. It was raining and like 10 construction workers heard and were also dying. It was such a fun experience. I was laughing really hard in the car.
Prayers answered. It was freezing cold yeseterday and I we were out tracting. I had said a small prayer that we'd be able to find someone that had been prepared. Almost immediately after praying, we knocked on a door. A man answered and we were able to share a little bit of the Restoration with him. We asked if we could come back and share more with him and he said yes!! I know Heavenly Father is preparing the people and He truly answers prayers.
I know that this gospel is true. I know that the Book of Mormon contains the fulness of the gospel. I know that as we pray, study and ponder it's message we will come closer to God and continue to learn and strengthen our testimonies.
My challenge for y'all is to do the challenge from Pres. Nelson. If you haven't started reading the Book of Mormon highlighting the names of the Savior, I highly encourage you to do so. I have already seen the blessing from doing this challenge myself. I wanted to close with a quote from Pres. Nelson, "The Lord’s message is for everyone. This is a global work. … The message is to invite all God’s children on both sides of the veil to come unto their Savior and enjoy the blessings of the temple, have enduring joy, and qualify for eternal life. And that will bring hope, help, and lift to all people”. I know that this gospel has brought hope, help and upliftment to me. This is the Lord's work and he needs all of us to do it. Now is the time:) I sure love y'all! Have a great week!
Love,
Sister Madeline Stone
