Technology
Hi Family and Friends!!!
So, this week has been full of events. We put together a ward potluck and pie contest and invited pretty much everyone we met tracting, walking, driving, you name it. We told the members to invite their friends, family and neighbors. Well, evening of the pie contest came and the ward showed up, and everyone that came brought a pie!! It was great! We had 2 people we're teaching come. We were glad that they came, but were a little sad that not many people we had invited and reminded came. But, it was a great evening! We had 2 less-actives come as well!
It has also been fun to correlate and coordinate with my fellow Sister Training Leaders (STL's). We are in a split trio STL companionship so it is a little difficult to plan things. However, I am so grateful we are a technology mission. I know that technology when used properly can help the work progress, and not hinder it. My two STL companions and I have been able to plan and correlate meetings and training over Facebook Messenger video calls. So, even though we are more than an hour away from each other, we have been able to work together to fulfill our assignments.
Technology is wonderful but like everything else we have to use it wisely and appropriately. We follow certain safeguards for technology as missionaries. There's four main ones I wanted to share with y'all.
1. Be in tune with spiritual promptings.
2. Be focused on your missionary purpose.
3. Be disciplined.
4. Be one.
Now you might be wondering, well that's nice Sister Stone but what does this have to do with me? Well, I'll tell ya. Now a days there's a lot of technology, media and things to keep you busy. However, I want y'all to ask yourself if you are doing these 4 things, taking out "missionary" in number 2. Technology is wonderful! It is here on the earth to hasten the work. But, we must be aware as "we are agents unto ourselves".
So, my challenge for y'all is to do a self-inventory on how you use your devices. Pick one of these 4 things to work on. Tell someone about it to keep yourself accountable. Following these safeguards have helped me to be more in tune with the spirit and to remember what my purpose is. I encourage y'all to live these safeguards. They are on gospel library and on lds.org.
It was really fun to look back on the calendar and realize that just over a year ago I opened up my call to THE BEST MISSION EVER!!! I truly love being a full-time missionary for the Lord. I highly encourage anyone considering a mission to go! I seriously love it! It is sure not easy, haha, but it is so joyous! I hope y'all have a great week!
Love y'all!
