Pray, Trust & Act
Hi Family and Friends!
Happy 4th of July!! At this time I am full of joy and appreciation for my Heavenly Father and my country.
I just wanted to share a few things that happened this week.
1.) Sabina said yes to baptism! She is wonderful! She referred herself for a Bible 2 weeks ago and has been to church every week. She's truly been prepared to accept the gospel.
2.) Angelina, and her girls didn't make it to church. I was devasted. The talks were just what they needed to hear. Sister Coles and I were so sad they didn't show up. I was doubting if they'd still be ready for their baptisms. I didn't know what to do. We pushsed their date back and went over to their house. Sister Coles and I were praying that we'd know how to help them. We trusted that Heavenly Father would help them after all we can do. We talked to them about baptism and the importance of church attendance. They all committed to come to church this week. When we got back to the car, the scripture came to my mind, "Wherefore didst thou doubt?". I learned that I must trust Heavenly Father and his plan for those we teach even if his plan is different than mine. He knows best!
3.) We found this very WISE man (Brother Kessinger, He's 87). We were planning on teaching him the Restoration. Well, we started the first part of the Restoration lesson and I just kept thinking how we needed to switch and teach the Plan of Salvation. I knew it was the Holy Ghost prompting me to switch. So, I looked at Sister Coles and whispered Plan of Salvation? She looked at me confused and kept going. I just kept thinking about it, and I couldn't move on, so I looked at her again. When I looked at her she said Plan of Salvation. Almost in sync we both immediately switched into the Plan of Salvation. (The members looked a little confused as we told them we were teaching the Restoration then switched lessons.) But, it was a great lesson. We answered all of Brother Kessingers questions. After the lesson Sister Coles and I were talking in the car. She said that she had thought to teach the Plan of Salvation and was looking in her bag for some pamphlets. She said she thought it was just her. At that moment, was when I asked her the first time if we should switch. She said after that, she knew it was the Holy Ghost. I also knew it was the Holy Ghost telling us to switch lessons on the spot. It was a really cool experience for me. We still don't know why we were supposed to switch and teach the Plan of Salvation, but we acted on our promptings and did it. I thought about the lesson later on in the evening. I realized that Brother Kessinger's lesson was an answer to my prayers. I had prayed in my morning prayer to be able to recognize the spirit and act on his promptings. Heavenly Father sure didn't waste any time on answering.
I realized that everything that has happened this week has been an answer to many prayers. I was praying that a member would feed us on the 4th. No one signed up on Sunday. However, a member called us Monday and asked if we would join them on the 4th for dinner. This is one of many answers that came this week. It was interesting as the main subject of church this week was how Heavenly Father answers our prayers all the time, but not in the way we expect him to. I truly gained a testimony of this throughout the week.
I challenge y'all to reflect back on your week and see how Heavenly Father has answered your prayers. Maybe write down what you prayed for and how he answered that prayer. Write down what you learned in your journal or share it with your family. I know that Heavenly Father answers all of our prayers, small and big. I know that he has answered mine and continues to do so in ways that I didn't anticipate. He has a plan for each of us. He loves us.
Have a great week and a Happy 4th of July!
Love y'all!
