The Power of the Book of Mormon
Hey Family and Friends!!
This week has been really great! We have this younger couple (the Wilkes) we've been teaching come to church this week which was really amazing! We've been teaching them since Feb. They are both progressing so much and I can just see their testimonies growing!
This week I really wanted to express my appreciation for the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon is powerful! If you want someone to feel the spirit you need to have them read out of the Book of Mormon!
I wanted to share a story from this week about the power of the Book of Mormon. So about a month ago we got a referral from a woman named Dianna. She referred herself for a Book of Mormon. We went over a few times and she wasn't home. Finally, about the 4th time, she was home and we were able to teach her the Restoration and give her a copy of the Book of Mormon. She was really interested and said she would start reading. Now, fast forward to this past Saturday--This Saturday we stopped by Dianna's house to see if she was home. (We haven't been able to catch her for the past month because she's been working a ton.) We stopped in the morning and tried to visit with her but she wasn't home. We went throughout the rest of the day and were coming home when we thought we should try her again. We drove there and said a prayer in the car. Right as we ended our prayer, she came out her front door. We were so shocked! We ended up visiting her for about 30 minutes. She said that she has been reading the Book of Mormon every spare minute she has. She said that she brings it to work and leaves it in her break room so that she can read it and so her co-workers can read it. She then said that she had 3 co-workers who wanted to meet with us and receive a Book of Mormon!! You can imagine Sister Henley and I's face when she said that!:) She said that she had told them that ( as far as she's read) it is the most correct book and comparable with the Bible. Well, what do we learn from this? The Book of Mormon changes peoples hearts and brings the spirit in such a powerful way that we can not ignore it! The missionaries weren't at Dianna's house this month because she was at work. But, she was learning and feeling of the spirit every day because she was reading her Book of Mormon.
So, my challenge for all y'all is to read and study the Book of Mormon daily. Read as a family and individually! Also, think of someone that could benefit from the Book of Mormon! (Everyone can benefit) I encourage y'all to invite a friend or neighbor to read the Book of Mormon and give them a copy. Share your testimony with them about the Book of Mormon. If you don't have a testimony of the Book of Mormon, then start reading and studying it with a willing mind and a contrite spirit. I promise y'all that if you do this, you will gain a testimony of the Book of Mormon and also be able to bless someone else to have the joy of the fullness of the gospel. The Book of Mormon has been given to lead us back to Heavenly Father! We must use it!!
